Anodised Aluminium Jewellery

A new addition to my range of handmade Cornish jewellery is the introduction of anodized aluminium.  The colours achieved using this method are virbrant and mouth-wateringly beautiful.  I prefer to hand paint the anodised aluminium as I can blend the coloured inks and achieve some brilliant painterly effects.  I like to decorate both sides of the aluminium as this adds extra interest to the pieces.

Are you stuggling to match your outfit with your Jewellery?

Many people find matching coloured jewellery to an outfit is often difficult.  I can send samples of the colours of anodised aluminium  available to help in this process.

How is anodized aluminium made?

Aluminium becomes anodised when it is inserted into acid  and an electrical current is passed through it.  This makes the surface porous and enables it to accept colour.   The special inks and dyes are applied by using various different painting and printing methods, ie screen printing, lino printing etc.   The anodised aluminium is then placed into a hot dye bath where it soaks up the vibrant colours.  These colours are then sealed into the metal by boiling in water, which makes it colourfast and permanent.   The aluminium is then used to form beautiful colourful handmade cuff bangles, rings, earrings and necklaces.  Anodised aluminium is the alloy of the moment because of the popularity of coloured Jewellery.  All Jewellery is made with sterling silver findings.
